Partners and Church Outreach

As a non-profit organization, The Joshua Foundation realizes that there is only a need to charge guests enough to cover the cost of the retreat and upkeep.  Although this is a nominal amount for most of us, there are those in congregations that do not have the means to make this type of fantastic retreat.  That is why it is our goal to reserve at least 50% of the year for churches, groups and individuals that could normally not afford to stay at a place like this.

Partners and partner churches that can afford to, will be given the opportunity to sponsor those with lesser means.  There is also an emphasis to align with Christian companies.  The Joshua House will be available for company functions; subsequent expansion could occur with corporate donations.  The Joshua House will have an emphasis on evangelism with a desire to touch everyone that enters its grounds.

We Are Non-Sectarian

Although the Joshua Foundation is faith-based, it is important to know that we are non-sectarian and as such, we are collaborating with other organizations for the most efficient and effective method to address the ‘felt-needs’ of our communities. In general, our foundational philosophy is to make our future facility available for our partners to help in their effort of providing holistic care because we believe that the best care addresses the whole person:  emotionally, spiritually, practically and socially.  Below is a sampling of the women-focused care our partners currently provide in our region:

  • Housing  Emergency shelter for the homeless and permanent housing and repairs for the underprivileged and “working poor”

  • Education  Including: financial, women’s health education, career training, parenting and life skills

  • Domestic Violence Counseling and protection as well as a focus on community awareness to break the cycle of violence

  • Practical support Beyond shelter: food, clothing and general sustenance needs are met

  • Health care Mental/emotional and complete physical health care is provided including podiatry, dental, obstetric/gynecological services

  • Family Guidance Attention is given to families with at risk teens, there is support for broken families, as well as intensive marriage support
